Tile Decks
Compliant, durable and easy-to-maintain
Protect Your Deck with Nurajacks
Featuring a large base and a self‑levelling head capable of adjusting up to 5%, Nurajacks are designed to protect waterproofing membranes. The system requires no adhesives or grout, allowing tiles to be lifted at any time for easy access to the substrate or drainage outlets below. Nurajacks can also be installed over any stable, non‑eroding surface. Tiling directly on pedestals is one of the most cost‑effective and efficient solutions for tiled decks. Nurajacks allow tiles to be raised to align with interior finished floor levels, creating a flush threshold and seamless indoor–outdoor flow.
System Products
Nurajack PRO
Available in sizes from 15mm to 770mm.
The adjustable Nurajacks incorporate a self-levelling head to protect membranes, making installation quick and easy.
The bi-component head minimises reflective echo and improves foot feel. The large diameter base distributes the load over any waterproofing protecting the membrane from the load applied.
Nurajack Star.T
Starting at a height of 8mm, the Nurajack Star.T can be adjusted up to 15mm.
The Nurajack Star.T is 150mm in diameter and is levelled using a Star.T Slope Corrector. Additional Star.B bases extend the height in 5mm increments - to a maximum of 30mm.
Accessories
A wide variety of accessories are available to simplify installation and overcome most on-site challenges.
Windproof
In some extreme situations, tiles may need to be affixed to the Nurajack. The Nurajack SE Windproof is a pedestal especially designed for areas in direct exposure to high winds. When parapets and balustrades do not provide enough protection, the Nurajack PRO Windproof pedestal provides the solution.
Installing Nurajacks for Tile Decks
THERMAL EXPANSION
Tiles, pavers and timber decking all expand and contract depending on the exterior temperature. If a tile or paver is direct glued to a substrate, expansion joints are required. Nurajacks remove this requirement as the individual pavers are able to expand and contract without affecting the surrounding structure. Nurajack Tile Cladding Clips can be used to interface between the edge of the deck and the building structure.
SELF-LEVELLING HEADS
The unique self-levelling head of the Nurajack provides a level deck every time. With other deck supports, tilers must resort to placing ad-hoc shims under the base of the pedestals - a time-consuming practice that has the potential to damage the waterproofing membrane through point loading. With Nurajacks, the deck load is evenly spread on their wide base, ensuring stability and that the integrity of the membrane is maintained while the self-levelling head facilitates a level trafficable surface. Nurajacks can self-level up to five percent.
MOISTURE CONTROL
Tiles and pavers on Nurajacks do not have grout between them. This allows rainwater to flow between the tiles/pavers letting the waterproofing membrane to do its work, shedding water to the drainage. Another advantage is that the membrane is then able to breathe. Any excess moisture will quickly evaporate, ensuring that there is no long-term dampness around the membrane.
LARGE STABLE BASE
Nurajacks feature a large 320 sq cm base to evenly distribute the full weight of the tile/paver or timber decking and whatever may be on top. This minimises any indentation that is evident with smaller based jacks. Nurajacks can withstand weights up to 1,000 kg, however, consideration must be given to the structure and the membrane before excessive loads (such as spa pools) are placed on the Nurajacks.
BI-COMPONENT TILE HEAD
Nurajacks have a unique bi-component head. The heads feature an integrated rubber component that is designed to minimise tile vibration which reduces the reflective echo of the system when it is walked on. The rubber component also aids the installation as the tiles will not slide off the head or move around during installation.
REMOVEABLE TILES/PAVERS
As the Nurajack system is totally floated, there is no adhesive or fixing involved. All the tiles/pavers are removable for inspection purposes. An added advantage is that additional services can be run under the suspended tiles/pavers. Only structural tiles and pavers specifically designed and tested for pedestal (floating) deck applications are suitable for use.
